 Our Vision

We envision the Jewish community consisting of unique, creative individuals who deeply and compassionately embrace our common humanity.

Through healthy relationship we strive to co-create the Oneness that defines all reality and as individuals to joyfully appreciate the symphony we are all a part of.

Our vision is to establish a network of centers in all major Jewish communities that will provide:

  • Periodic workshops for men, women, couples and young adults, where fundamental principles of relationships are distinguished and embodied,
  • Regular, ongoing group meetings where skills for healthy relationships are practiced and
  • Communal support in order to hold each other accountable to incorporate these skills into our daily lives that will insure real transformation.

We are only too familiar with relational problems that are so painfully prevalent. They read like clichés - soaring divorce rates, teenage alienation, spousal abuse, the lack of safety and basic communication skills, and entire nations unable to resolve conflicts in respectful and honoring ways.

Our world knows how to express deep emotions, unconsciously. In our own families we find ourselves sometimes acting out of frustration or pressure, hurting or even ignoring those we love, without being aware of the impact on our families and ourselves.

And we certainly know how to connect horizontally in superficial ways. How many “good friends” do we have that know so little of the weight of our struggles or the depth of our joys?

Our organization has been and will continue to be committed to bring healing to the root of these problems.

We are about living consciously, developing and practicing skills and having a real accountable impact.

The foundation of our teachings rests on the wisdom of our tradition, and, we honor as well, our present day vitality and the novel contributions we can make.

Call of the Shofar is helping to reveal Judaism as a vital, alive, effective path that fosters unique, powerful individuality as well as supportive, responsible community. We are demonstrating to those that are already committed to our heritage, and those that have felt a need to search elsewhere, that Judaism is a historical foundation from which is flowering creative, courageous avenues of personal and social change.

Shofar is not a sound but a circle.
A circle of men who told me that I am not alone.
That I matter,
that I am not just a one-dimensional being to have pleasant conversations with,
but a person with a soul.

And they have tools.
Ways of lovingly opening myself to deeper levels of knowledge,
knowledge of what makes me great and knowledge of my fear.

My fear of connection, my fear of love, my fear of being loved by God.
Together we help each other to let go of our fear,
and come into deeper relationship with ourselves, with each other, and with God.

And this ripples outside of our circle.
Into our families, our work, our learning, our prayer,
the more we live in Truth,
the more we see the light of God in all places.

And then suddenly I see that the world is not against me,
that the silence inside me is now filled with joy,
and that the world is there for me to sing with in praise of our creator.

And that is the Call of the Shofar.
